Match Preview & Team News
Wednesday’s tie between WBA and Brighton will complete the list of contestants for the fifth round of the FA Cup. The two teams are set to lock horns in a 4th round replay following a goalless draw from January 26th at The AMEX. Even though there were no goals scored in the first leg, we can say it was an eventful affair which saw both teams hitting the woodwork on the occasion.
Both managers, especially West Brom’s Darren Moore, made plenty of changes to their regular starting line-ups back then. Youngsters Kyle Edwards, Jonathan Leko, Rekeem Harper, Rayhaan Tulloch and Sam Field were all surprisingly included in the first squad which saw Hal Robson-Kanu leading the attacking line.
As it was expected in such circumstances, Brighton were the dominant side on the pitch, but they just could not convert as WBA’s young team held on to a goalless draw on the afternoon. Moore will likely send a similar squad on the pitch here as the promotion to Premier League remains the main goal for the Baggies.
WBA’s promotional hopes suffered a serious blow on Saturday, though, as the team fell 2-3 at home to Middlesbrough in a direct clash between two EPL hopefuls at The Hawthorns. Britt Assombalonga was the man who made the difference for Boro bagging two late goals to cancel efforts from West Brom’s attacking pair Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle.
Birghton dropped down to 13th place in the Premier League ladder after a streak of five straight games without a win in all competitions. They fell 4-2 away at Fulham eight days ago, while the weekend saw them play a goalless draw at home against Watford. Chris Hughton could introduce Alireza Jahanbakhsh to the starting line-up as the Iranian winger returned from AFC Asian Cup.
Full Time Winner Odds & Prediction
The visitors should line-up a stronger squad once again and we see them as favourites to claim the victory at 6/4 odds.
Goals Market Prediction
Under 2.5 goals FT looks like a decent betting option at 3/4 odds based on both teams’ drop in form in recent weeks.
