Juventus vs Barcelona – Champions League

Tuesday 11th April 19:45, Juventus Stadium

Match Preview and Betting Tips

This for me is perhaps the tastiest of the Quarter-Finals as I’m really not sure which way its going to go. Obviously the overall favourites are the Catalonains, but a good first leg performance could set Juventus up for a Semi-Final appearance.

Both teams are going well in their domestic divisions, as expected Juventus top Serie A and look like easing to yet another title, but Barcelona missed out on a big opportunity to close the gap on Real, who drew the Madrid Derby, when they slipped to a surprise 2-0 defeat at Malaga.

Argentine striker Higuaín top scores for the host in this competition with 3 goals, but his fellow countryman Messi has smashed in a fantastic 11 goals in the Champions League this season. Former players often return to haunt their old clubs and I have a feeling that Brazilian full back Dani Alves could have a hand in a goal or two tomorrow night, perhaps even getting on the scoreboard himself as he has done twice already in the CL for Juventus.

Both sides are in decent form which makes this one hard to predict, so I’ve gone with an over 2.5 goals scored and both teams to score bet to start with, followed by Higuaín and Messi to score, and my outsider is on Dani Alves to either score or assist a goal for the hosts.

Juventus vs Barcelona Stats

these two grand old clubs of European football have gone head to head 9 times through the years, and the records show that the team from Italy holds a one win advantage to date.

The last meeting between the two clubs arrived in 2015, where the pair locked horns in the final of the Champions League.

Barcelona were the favourites in Berlin and took an early lead through Croatian midfielder Rakitić after just 4 minutes. Juventus didn’t reply until 10 minutes into the second half as Spanish striker Morata netted an equaliser.

Suárez then put the favourites back in front on 68 minutes, before teammate Neymar sealed the Champions League title deep into stoppage time with a third goal.
