Ajax or Lyon are now just two games away from a famous European Final as the pair go head to head in the first leg of their Semi-Final tie in the Netherlands.
Ajax need a positive result to take to France with them, as despite some poor league performances Lyon have been very good in Europe, particularly at home where they have turned ties around already this season.
The hosts needed extra time to get passed Schalke in the last round, and even though they have great history in European competitions nobody expected the Eredivisie side to get this far.
Lyon couldn’t get the job done in extra time and ended up needing penalties to beat Besiktas in the Quarter-Finals, but that in itself was quite an achievement as the Turkish side have been playing so well over the last two seasons.
United or Celta Vigo await the winners of this tie, but I don’t think we are going to have much of a clearer view on which of these two clubs are going to go through as I’m expecting a close game tomorrow.
I’ve gone with a home win and both teams to score as neither side have looked like keeping a clean sheet in Europe for a while now, and it is going forward where both sides look at their most comfortable.
My second bet is on over 2.5 goals to be scored and whilst that is obvious given my first bet, I figure this would be a good bet for anyone planning on an accumulator style bet this week.
As for the first goalscorer I fancy Ajax’s Klaassen even though he only has 2 goals in the Europa league this season, he has been in great form in the league with 13 goals and provides a threat playing in behind the striker.
